WORKERS'
BILL
OF
RIGHTS
RAISING WORKER STANDARDS
When working people stand together, anything is possible. Through solidarity, strength, and a shared commitment to change, we have the power to make the South Sound a better, fairer place to work and live.
We Will Win Through Solidarity
Change isn’t easy, and we know that big business will try to maintain the status quo. But with everyone pitching in—whether through grassroots efforts, donations, or simply spreading the word—we can build a powerful, people-driven movement. Together, we’re ready to take on corporate influence and win these essential rights for all.
Core Initiatives:
Our Workers’ Bill of Rights is built on a foundation of key values that reflect the everyday challenges and aspirations of working people. Together, we’re pushing for:
$20/HR MINIMUM WAGE – ADJUSTED WITH INFLATION:
Guarantees a phased-in, annual wage increase that brings South Sound workers up to a livable wage, aligning pay standards with those already in place in King County.
THE RIGHT TO WORK ENOUGH HOURS FOR A LIVABLE INCOME:
Provides current part-time employees the first opportunity for new hours as they become available, ensuring they can earn a sustainable paycheck before employers hire additional staff.
PREDICTABLE SCHEDULES THAT SUPPORT OUR FAMILIES:
Requires employers to provide schedules at least two weeks in advance, fair compensation for on-call or canceled shifts, the right to decline extra hours on short notice, and a clear estimate of weekly hours.
SAFE WORKPLACES THROUGH TRAINING AND ADEQUATE STAFFING:
Prioritizes the safety of workers and customers by mandating sufficient staffing levels to reduce the risk of injuries and violence, as well as enhanced safety training and emergency preparedness.
